Really Overdue 2010 D-League Draft Review
2010-11-15

76th: - Bakersfield Jam - Lorrenzo Wade, San Diego State

Wade is a 6'4 shooting guard and a big time athlete who averaged 14.0ppg, 4.6rpg and 2.8 apg in his senior season. Last year was his first professional season; he started with Kavala/Panorama in Greece, but was released due to poor performance after only three games. Wade had averaged 10.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in those three games, but apparently it wasn't enough. He then went to the Philippines to play for the San Miguel Beerman, although I'm not sure if he ever did, because almost immediately after that news came out, Wade was also announced as signing in Mexico. There, for the Rayos de Hermosillo in the CIBACOPA, Wade put up 97 points in his first three games, but got injured after one minute of the fourth and didn't play again. He then returned to the Philippines to play for the Derby Ace Llamados, and averaged 25.2 points and 12.8 rebounds in 5 games - as in Taiwan no one over 6'6 is allowed - but was again released to poor performance, specifically defensively. Wade returned to Mexico to begin this season, and averaged 14.1 points and 4.1 rebounds per game for Soles de Mexicali, but he didn't shoot well. The jumpshot is still mediocre, and the defense hasn't changed much. He's still mainly just an athlete.

San Diego State product Wade's first professional season has seen him rack up the air miles. He started the season with Kavala/Panorama in Greece, but was released due to poor performance after only three games. Wade had averaged 10.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in those three games, but apparently it wasn't enough. He then returned to the Philippines to play for the Derby Ace Llamados, and averaged 25.2 points and 12.8 rebounds in 5 games - remember, no one over 6'6 is allowed - but was again released to poor performance, specifically defensively. That's the thing with minor leagues; big expectations.

Note: Non-US teams that the player has played for are, unless stated otherwise, from the top division in that nation. If a league or division name is expressly stated, it's not the top division. The only exceptions to this are the rare occasions where no one league is said to be above the other, such as with the JBL/BJ League split in Japan.
