Really Overdue 2010 D-League Draft Review
2010-11-15

70th: - Iowa Energy - Scott VanderMeer, Illinois-Chicago

VanderMeer is a three time Horizon League Defensive First Team winner, and a one time Pacers summer leaguer. He's big, a very good shotblocker, armed with a bit of a jumpshot....and really, really slow. In his senior season at Illinois-Chicago, VanderMeer averaged 10.3ppg, 8.9rpg and 2.5 blocks per game, but shot only 40% from the field. And last season - his first professional campaign - VanderMeer averaged 5.3ppg, 6.2rpg, 1.1spg and 2.3bpg in only 18 minutes per game. Note: Non-US teams that the player has played for are, unless stated otherwise, from the top division in that nation. If a league or division name is expressly stated, it's not the top division. The only exceptions to this are the rare occasions where no one league is said to be above the other, such as with the JBL/BJ League split in Japan.
