"Rook, I am the best shooter in the league. In the league, understand? And you're up here trying to tell me something?" - Larry Bird to Reggie Miller, as Reggie tried to distract Bird between free throws.

   2017 NBA Manifesto
2017-06-29

Salah Mejri
C, 7’1, 245lbs, 31 years old, 2 years of experience

A capable third string centre who tries to block everything, goes to the glass, and will foul anybody if needs be. Not a stiff offensively, but not talented, limited to the post alone save for occasional pick-and-roll play and not even a reliable catch-and-finisher, never mind creator. Still, it’s a role, and he’s quite good in it.

Player Plan: Unguaranteed minimum salary contract for 2017/18. Is worthy of a minimum salary; then again, he would ideally be upgraded upon. Resources however are better spent on the guard spots, so Mejri should return.

   NBA Fantasy Preview - 4th November 2017
2017-11-04

Picking Mejri would be a big risk. He is a third old school string centre openly unhappy about being a third string centre, and he normally barely plays, if even he plays at all. But when he does play, he produces, as evidenced by his 13 rebounds and 5 blocks in 22 minutes in the last game. Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle openly said that Mejri played that much in that game partly because of foul troubles for Nerlens Noel and Dwight Powell ahead of him, but also because Mejri historically matches up well against DeMarcus Cousins. Which is true, and which his performance proved. But Mejri matches up well against any post-up player. He should match up quite well against Karl-Anthony Towns tonight, too. So he should play. But he might not. And for as low as the cost is, bear this in mind.

   NBA Fantasy Preview - 20th November 2017
2017-11-20

In today’s edition of Things That Feel Weird To Type, we can say with confidence that Mejri has won the rotation spot ahead of Nerlens Noel. Mejri does not play much – he averages only 12.1 minutes per game, and his bigger nights are largely match-up dependent. But he produces extremely well per minute as a rebounder and shot blocker, and averages 19.3 fantasy points over the last eight games. You may therefore wish to pick Mejri as a very cheap fantasy option. But under absolutely no circumstances should you pick Noel.

Note: Non-US teams that the player has played for are, unless stated otherwise, from the top division in that nation. If a league or division name is expressly stated, it's not the top division. The only exceptions to this are the rare occasions where no one league is said to be above the other, such as with the JBL/BJ League split in Japan.
