Will Truss

Not all that unlike Lewis above, Truss is a strong but flat footed left-handed 6'8 post player whom it is fun to pretend is really Othella Harrington. With his mix of left handed hooky layupy things and occasional mid-range jump shots, Truss often reminds of the Big O, a decent rebounder and scorer with little defense who will nevertheless get back some of what he gives up with his lefty touch and dogged persistence in the lane.

Of course, this is a style of play comparison rather than a level of play comparison, as Truss has no one stand-out talent to his game. Barely able to get above the rim due to very little in the way of athletic tools, Truss has neither a power nor finesse game - he struggles to finish when contested around the basket, and for all his touches in and around the paint, Truss does not have the best touch. He is therefore a limited player, a strong but very grounded occasional post presence who defends via the grab foul, scores only when open, and rebounds when he doesn't have to move too far to get it.

There is a certain level of competition at which Truss will be able to compete, for players able to create targets and finish in the paint are always of some value. And at the right level, Truss's size and decent shot blocking timing make for a capable paint and basket defender. But without getting significantly faster or better as a shooter, that level will be limited.

Note: Non-US teams that the player has played for are, unless stated otherwise, from the top division in that nation. If a league or division name is expressly stated, it's not the top division. The only exceptions to this are the rare occasions where no one league is said to be above the other, such as with the JBL/BJ League split in Japan.
