Chris Boucher
PF - 6’10, 200lbs - 25 years old - 1 year of experience
On the roster all season, Boucher played all of one minute with the Warriors, and did not play a whole bunch more with the G-League affiliate either. Limited to only 19 games with Santa Cruz, Boucher played only 21.0 minutes per game in these 19 games too as he recovered from an ACL injury. It is the type of injury that can be so damaging to a player so reliant on his athleticism. Nevertheless, his results in those 19 games were pretty good.
Boucher averaged 11.3 points, 7.1 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game in that time, all very good per minute numbers, and the last figure of which ranked fourth in the league. The three-point potential he showed at Oregon was not there, shooting only 10-46 from three on the season, yet the rebounding and athleticism very much were.
Underskilled with the ball in his hands and never demonstrating much of a feel for what to do when not catching the ball on the move, Boucher is behind the normal curve for a prospect of his age. He also has a thin frame that may never take too much strength, and which will limit his effectiveness on the interior. But attached to that frame are a couple of telegraph poles that he calls arms. If he can just run all day, roll, dunk, board and jump about, he will make an impact that way regardless.
And so far, that’s what he’s done.
Player Plan: Has a second year on his two-way contract and, notwithstanding his age, is a good candidate for that second year.
