   The best of what's left

Rodney White - You have to love it when a player averages 27.5 points, 8.9 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game, as Rodney did in China this season. Will this lead to an NBA return? No, probably not.

Chinese Basketball Association Imports, 2010/11, Again

Rodney White - 29 games, 35.1 mpg, 22.5 ppg, 8.9 rpg, 3.2 apg, 1.4 spg, 0.6 bpg, 3.0 TOpg, 49% FG, 39% 3PT, 77% FT

[Myron] Allen has been covered here many times before, always because of his CBA exploits. He struggled early in the season, rallied during the middle, yet ended rather slowly, with 4 single figure scoring outputs in his final 6 games. Nevertheless, after three straight years in the NBA, he's a definite candidate for a fourth. The same is true of White; this is (or was) the ex-NBA lottery pick's fourth season in China. It's also his lowest scoring output here - from 30.5 ppg, to 36.2 ppg, to 27.5 ppg, to this year's 22.6 ppg. Is the CBA getting tougher, are the rule changes affecting the numbers league wide, or has the soon-to-be-31-year-old Rodney White hit the apex of his career? All three.

The 2010 Puerto Rican BSN Season

Rodney White - 7 games, 31.7 mpg, 21.1 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 2.4 apg, 2.3 fpg, 0.9 spg, 1.0 bpg, 49% FG, 29% 3PT, 75% FT

[...] Nailon got injured a fortnight ago and missed five games at the most inopportune time, but Ponce quickly countered by bringing in another former NBA player of some pedigree when they signed Rodney White. This is Rodney's third consecutive summer in the BSN, more excitingly, it's also the third consecutive season in which he's pulled the China/Puerto Rico double ender. You have to love that. You also have to love it when a player averages 27.5 points, 8.9 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game, as Rodney did in the CBA this season. (Incidentally, upon Nailon's return, Ponce deactivated Rodgers and have used White and Nailon as their two import players in the playoffs.)

Where Are They Now, 2010; Part 72

- Rodney White

Happily, Rodney White has spent three straight seasons doing the China-in-the-winter/Puerto Rico-in-the-summer combination. In his third season with the Zhejiang Guangsha Lions, White averaged 27.5 points, 8.9 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.6 steals per game, and for the Leones de Ponce he's at 21.3 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.

   Chinese Basketball Association Statistics, 2010

- Rodney White: 40.0mpg, 28.5ppg, 9.3rpg, 4.0apg, 2.2fpg, 1.6spg, 0.7bpg, 52% FG, 33% 3PT, 75% FT

White, one of the worst players to ever record a triple double in NBA history (no offence intended), has not recorded one yet in the CBA this season, despite getting close a number of times. He does however have 12 double doubles in 28 games, and has a season low scoring output of 19, achieved only once. His PPG total ranks tied for fourth in the league, and his APG rank 12th.

As far as I know, Rodney has not vomited on the court at any point this year.

Note: Non-US teams that the player has played for are, unless stated otherwise, from the top division in that nation. If a league or division name is expressly stated, it's not the top division. The only exceptions to this are the rare occasions where no one league is said to be above the other, such as with the JBL/BJ League split in Japan.
