   2010 Summer Signings, Part 1

Good news, Oklahoma City Thunder fans! Former Sonics draft pick Paccelis "Patch" Morlende is back in basketball after a year and a half out due to injury. Patch resumed training in the new year, attending practice with Dijon, the team with whom he began his career. And although Dijon did not sign him at any point - probably because they were too busy getting relegated - Hyeres-Toulon have just done so, giving Patch his first playing gig since an unsuccessful run in Russia in December 2008. With Kevin Ollie's impending retirement, this news could not come at a better time.

An Unnecessarily Exhaustive Guide To The NBA Prospects Of The Unsigned NBA Draft Picks

Paccelis Morlende (50th pick, 2003)

- Patch Morlende's career was stymied and damn near ended by injuries. He was a decent prospect at one time, a quick defensive combo guard who was moving to the point guard position, and doing so rather well. But he missed three years between 2007 and 2010 due to injury, and returned only this season to play for French ProA team Hyeres-Toulon. Morlende has averaged 5.1 points, 1.5 assists and 1.6 turnovers in 13 minutes per game, shooting 42% from the field. He turns 30 later this month, and no longer has it.

Morlende's draft rights were once traded for that of Willie Green. That trade didn't really work out. Green has never been a great NBA player, but at least he's been one.

Chances of making the NBA expressed as an arbitrary percentage: 0%

Where Are They Now, 2010; Part 46

- Paccelis Morlende

Former Sonics draft pick Patch Morlende isn't playing right now either, having been out of basketball for the best part of two years. He signed in Russia with Ural Great Perm for the 2008/09 season, but left in preseason without playing a game, and has not been signed since. Morlende has been injured, and his comeback only started to get somewhere in January when he began training with French club Dijon, the club with whom he began his career. Morlende wasn't under contract with the team, and he never did sign there, but he asked to be allowed to train there to help with his rehab, and the team agreed. Patch is still unsigned, but Lyon were said to be considering signing him as an injury replacement for Ralph Mims, who has broken his finger. However, they signed Mamoutou Diarra this week instead, which probably ends that.

Note: Non-US teams that the player has played for are, unless stated otherwise, from the top division in that nation. If a league or division name is expressly stated, it's not the top division. The only exceptions to this are the rare occasions where no one league is said to be above the other, such as with the JBL/BJ League split in Japan.
