Gaffney and Lasme are similar players who, fittingly, both came from Massachusetts. Lasme has played for both the Warriors and Heat before now, a former second round pick of Golden State's, who averaged 5.1 blocks per game in his senior season and who has continued his professional career in much the same style. Lasme piles up the blocks, rebounds rather well, and gets some points through that athleticism as well. He was due to sign with Spartak St. Petersburg earlier this month, but the signing fell through due to some technical issues with his visa, so he's here instead; the inclusions of all three of him, Gaffney and Johnson should tell you that Boston is looking for a shotblocker.

Maccabi Tel-Aviv declined their contract option on former Warriors draft pick Stephane Lasme. The Raptors are said to have been scouting him, alongside his Maccabi frontcourt teammate D'Or Fischer. Granted, the Israeli press are notorious for making things up, and the now-27 year old Lasme is coming off a bad year and has hardly added the missing dimensions to his somewhat one dimensional game. But then again, Amir Johnson becomes an unrestricted free agent in three weeks time. Coincidence? Maybe. Maybe not.

- Stephane Lasme

Lasme was Lampe's teammate at Maccabi Tel-Aviv, but unlike Lampe, he's still there. He is averaging 6.5 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game in the Euroleague, alongside 8.6/4.4/1.9 in the Israeli league. That 1.9 comes in only 19 minutes per game, and yet it's good enough to rank second in the league. There's not a whole lot of shotblocking in Israel. (Former Duquense forward Shawn James leads the league with 2.8 bpg in only 25mpg. He comes off the bench to do that.)

Note: Non-US teams that the player has played for are, unless stated otherwise, from the top division in that nation. If a league or division name is expressly stated, it's not the top division. The only exceptions to this are the rare occasions where no one league is said to be above the other, such as with the JBL/BJ League split in Japan.
